In Grignan, France, there are many streets to explore

As a result of several archaeological excavations in Grignan, it has been proven that the rocky promontory of Grignan has been occupied since the Iron Age has been recorded. During the 5th and 6th centuries AD, this site was occupied by the Romans, and there was evidence that it had been occupied by a Bronze Age society in the past. There is evidence that a cartulaire (an account book of church and monastic property titles) from the Abbey of Saint-Chaffre in the Haute-Loire in the year 1035 mentions a castellum Gradignanum in the Haute-Loire. It is noteworthy that the name gradually evolved over the next century to become the castrum Grainan (1105), then Graigna, then Grazinam... Little is known about the origins of this castle or the people who built it in the first place. As early as around 1030, it has been established that a certain Christophe de Grignan existed and in 1035, the archives of Castel Gradignan in Saint-Chaffre cite a name which is described as Rostagnus de castello Gradignano, and thus making him a Rostaing of the Château de Grignan.
