Grignan, France, house located in the countryside.

Grignan is believed to be the oldest archaeological site on the island of Corsica, because archaeological excavations have shown that the rocky promontory of Grignan has been inhabited since the Iron Age, so it is the oldest archaeological site on the island of Corsica. In the past, this place had a Bronze Age society and it was also occupied by Romans in the fifth and sixth centuries AD. There is evidence that there was an obscure castellum Gradignanum, which is an obscure name for the castellum Gradignanum, mentioned in a cartulaire (a ledger of church and monastic property titles) from the Abbey of Saint-Chaffre in the Haute-Loire from the year 1035. Over the next century, as a result of continuous evolution, the castle's name evolved gradually into Castrum Grainan (1105), then the Graigna, and finally the Grazinam. When it comes to the history and construction of the castle, we do not know how or who built it, nor how long it took for it to be built. Some time around the year 1030, it has been established that a certain Christophe de Grignan existed, and in some of the texts found in the Cartulary of Saint-Chaffre, it is stated that a certain Rostagnus de Castello Gradignano was a bishop of the castle of Grignan.
