If we are speaking about Avignon, we must mention the celebrated Popes' Palace, which is a world heritage site and is included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Taking into account the Palace's huge size, looming over the town, it's no surprise that this is the largest gothic palace in the entire world. Perhaps that can be attributed to its sheer size. Although it has primarily become known for its heyday as a papal capital in the 14th century, as well as its even older bridge built in the 12th century, Avignon has plenty more to offer besides its history.
